    #Snowpocalypse

Heavenly has received 84" of the white stuff in the last 7 days.  Be aware we have had periods of rain in between the snowfall making the snow totals deceiving at lake level and causing resorts to experience lift operation qualms.  With the current weather prediction by OpenSnow we should see the storm pattern continuing into the month.  Locals are experiencing power outages and flooding from the continuous storms.  Everybody is waiting for the resorts to get back into a state of operation.  Heavenly is hopeful to open Jan 10th 2017.  With a great start to the season, this wet snow will make a great base that will help progress our 2017 season!  Now is a great time to do some online shopping and get exciting for the storms to come!

  • Snowboard Boot Lacing Systems, Which to Choose?

    Lacing Types, whats the difference?

boot-typesThere is a large selection of snowboard boots to choose from in this day in age, with a variety of lacing systems.  How do you know which lacing system is right for you?  More than likely any will do, but each lacing system has its owns strengths to boast.  I will discuss the various options that are available and my personal opinions on each lacing system.  remember, these are just my personal opinions.  at shoreline every employee rides a different lacing system!

    Fast Track Lacing

    type1 2017 ThirtyTwo Lashed - Fast Track

Fast Track gets you onto the mountain without fumbling with traditional laces, tightening the upper and lower zones with the quick pull of each lacing handle. Not only does this system simplify the lacing process, but more importantly, it adjusts the boot's flex to your personal riding style and local terrain.  Growing in popularity because of its simplicity and quickness Fast Track lacing should not be overlooked.  Some of our top shredders rock the fast track system with no complaints.  check out the the ThirtyTwo Lashed XLT

    Boa Lacing

type2 2017 DC Control- Double Boa

There are two main types of boa systems – Single Boa and Double Boa.  Single boa systems have one knob for the whole boot.  Double boa systems have one knob which controls the lower boot and one knob that controls the upper boot.  Really easy to get them tight.  Just a matter of twisting the knob, especially good for those with weaker grip.  Easy to tighten when fingers are cold and even while wearing gloves.  With the Boa system you are less likely to experience too much heel lift.  especially with the Ride lassos which are known for eliminating heal lift!

    Traditional Lace

type3 2016 ThirtyTwo Lashed Bradshaw- Traditional Lace

Tried and True, this lacing system is either loved or hated.  Loved because of its simplicity and ease to replace the laces.  Sometimes hated because there is so many other lacing system with technology built into them that can make your lacing experience much quicker.  Many freestyle riders choose this traditional lacing system because it allows a good flex through out the boot.  Check out the ThirtyTwo TM-2 one of the most sought after boots of all time ridden by many pro snowboarders.

    Hybrid Lacing
    type4 2016 K2 T1 - Hybrid lacing

The best of Both worlds? Traditional lacing on the front of the boot and Boa cables on the inner liner. Traditional lace allows for easy replacement and ease of mind knowing there is no room for technology to fail.  While laces are doing there job on the exterior the Boa cables are keeping your heel locked down.  with the reliability of the laces and heal lock when you need it on the inner liner.  This  lacing system is the authors favorite choice in the line up.  Check out the ThirtyTwo Session Grenier boot for a great Hybrid experience.
